Stefania Bolognese at Fiermonte Museum in Lecce

AKUSTIKA | La musique est un bruit qui pense is the solo exhibition by Salento-based artist and mosaicist Stefania Bolognese, hosted at the Fiermonte Museum in Lecce from July 1st to September 20th.

Born in Maglie, in the heart of Salento, Stefania Bolognese developed her artistic sensitivity through a lifelong dialogue with materials, colors, and sound. After studying Applied Art and specializing in mosaic techniques between Ravenna and the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli in Spilimbergo, she dedicated herself to the creation and restoration of mosaics, working on important projects including historic sites and churches in Puglia.

Her artistic journey has always been rooted in the relationship between tradition and experimentation. In her workshop in Carpignano Salentino, she combines the ancient language of mosaic with a contemporary vision, using glass, stone, gold leaf, and unconventional materials to transform fragments into emotional landscapes.

Music has become a fundamental source of inspiration in her research. After years of connection with musical expression, Stefania translates rhythm, harmony, and silence into visual compositions, allowing the mosaic to become a form of sound made visible. Her works do not simply represent music: they seek to capture its movement, energy, and invisible vibrations

Through AKUSTIKA, the artist brings together the two great vocations of her life: music and mosaic. Fragments of glass, stone, and gold leaf become a visual score, transforming invisible emotions, memories, and rhythms into tangible forms. Each artwork becomes a dialogue between matter and sound, perception and imagination.

The exhibition creates an intimate conversation with the Fiermonte Museum’s permanent collection and with the spirit of Jacques Zwobada, musician and artist, marking 70 years since the beginning of his immortal love for Antonia Fiermonte.

AKUSTIKA invites visitors into a space where the invisible takes shape, where matter becomes sound and sound becomes belonging. Colors become emotions to interpret, forms become stories to decipher, and art becomes a journey toward a deeper Self often hidden beneath the rhythm of everyday life.
